Far South San Antonio is the area of the city located south of Loop 410, west of Highway 181 and east of IH-35. This mostly rural area contains the small cities of Somerset, Jourdanton, Elmendorf, Losoya, Bigfoot, and Leming. Like Far West San Antonio, Far South San Antonio remains relatively undeveloped commercially, though it is the site of the Toyota manufacturing plant, as well as Texas A&M University in San Antonio. It also contains or is close to many of the oil shale areas south of the city. There still isn’t large scale residential development in the area, with most homes located on large lots in the country. Apartments in Far South San Antonio are few in number and are typically found along the major thoroughfares in the area. What they lack in number some South San Antonio apartments near the oil shales make up for in amenities with properties offering features like granite countertops, crown molding, large walk-in closets, garden tubs, and spacious patios and/or balconies to enjoy the country air. There still aren’t many apartments near Toyota or apartments near Texas A&M in San Antonio, though.
