South Central San Antonio is the area of the city located south of downtown, bordered by Highways 87/90 and 281, as well as Loop 410 and IH-35. This area includes the suburb of Harlandale and historic Mission Concepcion. While South Central San Antonio is highly developed, unlike the area to the South of Loop 410 from here, there is a good deal of green space and parks in the eastern portion where the San Antonio River trails out of downtown. Homes in the area are older and tend to be smaller than their North Central counterparts. Apartments in South Central San Antonio range from affordable properties that may be old with few amenities to new properties with modern amenities like open floorplans, fitness centers, business centers, swimming pools, and more. Some apartments in South Central San Antonio are near Palo Alto College, making them perfect for attending classes there. The area also has some of the better choices for apartments near Texas A&M in San Antonio, though the campus is located in Far South San Antonio. Even with modern amenities, living an apartment near Palo Alto College or an apartment near the San Antonio River in South Central San Antonio is likely to cost less per foot than comparable properties in other areas of the city.
